Remdesivir COVID Treatment

Remdesivir COVID Treatment services offered in Fullerton, CA

COVID-19 is a highly infectious disease that affects everyone differently. For those who are diagnosed with COVID-19 or who come in close contact with someone recently diagnosed, remdesivir (Veklury) treatment may decrease the severity and duration of the infection. The PINETREE randomized, double-blinded clinical trial showed an 87% decrease in hospitalization and death with a 3-day treatment of remdesivir vs. the placebo. Ascada Health in Fullerton, California, has been at the forefront of COVID-19 diagnosis and care since the start of the pandemic. The highly skilled team provides antiviral treatments to those who qualify. Call the office or schedule an appointment online today to see if you qualify for COVID treatments.

What is Veklury (remdesivir)?

Veklury (remdesivir) is a nucleotide analog invented by Gilead, building on more than a decade of the company’s antiviral research. Remdesivir has an established safety profile and minimal drug interactions in diverse populations. Veklury is the antiviral standard of care for the treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 and is a recommended treatment for reducing disease progression in non-hospitalized patients at high risk of disease progression. At this time, more than half of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the United States are treated with Veklury. It can help reduce disease progression across a spectrum of disease severity and enable patients to recover faster, freeing up limited hospital resources and saving healthcare systems money.

Am I a candidate for COVID antiviral treatment?

The team at Ascada Health determines if you’re a candidate for treatment after a health screening through telemedicine. They take into consideration your age, health history, diagnosis, and how long you’ve had symptoms.

They may consider you a candidate for the COVID-19 treatment if you're at risk of developing serious symptoms or you tested positive for COVID-19 in the past seven days and have symptoms.

You can also receive treatment if your medical provider sends us a referral for treatment, which can be found under our "PROVIDER RESOURCES" tab.

We offer rapid COVID testing as well.

What happens during Remdesivir treatment?

First, we take you to your private infusion room. Our rooms are equipped with high-quality specialized infusion chairs which are also power recliners. The rooms also have individual flat-screen TVs and free WiFi. We also offer our patients snacks and refreshments if they like.

We provide the remdesivir treatment at our Fullerton office through an infusion across 3 consecutive days. While you sit in the comfortable infusion chair, your provider inserts an IV line in your arm and starts your treatment.

Your treatment can take anywhere from 30-120 minutes. Once you complete treatment, the team has you stay at the office for an hour so they can monitor for side effects. The team then sends you home.

What can I expect after remdesivir treatment?

Though results vary, most people experience improvements in their COVID-19 symptoms after the treatment. The Ascada Health team provides specific guidelines for at-home care, including how long you need to remain in isolation.

To see if you’re a candidate for any COVID treatment, call Ascada Health or schedule your telemedicine screening online today!
